FREEPORT - Operator of CLA Trucking Cedric Hepburn, a well-known resident of Smith's Point, is believed to be the victim of a shooting on Wednesday evening.

He was gunned down as he and his companion were on their daily walk in the Fortune Bay Drive area.

The shooting marks Grand Bahama's seventh homicide of 2014.

The incident happened shortly before 6pm, near the North Star Resort – a quiet, upscale subdivision.

Hepburn, who is believed to be in his 40s, was shot multiple times in the body and died at the scene. His female companion was not harmed.

One time ago Bahamians would buy *The Tribune* and be shocked to find out that someone was murdered over night or on the weekend.

Then as crime got worse, they started reading *The Tribune* to see *if* anyone got killed overnight or on the weekend.

Then, as crime got even worse, they would read the newspaper to see *who* got killed.

NOW crime, especially murder is so bad, readers buy *The Tribune* to see how many persons 'get kill' overnight or on the weekent. In fact murder is such a commonplace in New Providence (and now Freeport), many residents do not have to read the newspapers. They are live and living witnesses to the killings
