THE country’s two latest murder victims were dating, police confirmed yesterday. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Anthony Ferguson, said that police have recently discovered that  19-year-old Latheria Moss and 42-year-old Fred Dames “knew each other and were dating”.

“As of now, we have determined that they are connected; however we still have no motive. We are following significant leads into the matter, but we still need the public’s help.”

Dames was found shot to death in the driveway of a residence on Haven and Sea Roads.

He had two gunshot wounds in his head. He died at the scene. About three hours later, the body of Latheria was discovered off Cowpen Road, about a quarter of a mile along Farm Road.

She was slumped over the passenger seat of a Honda Accord that was left abandoned on the road. Police said the teen girl had multiple gunshot wounds in her body.

According to police sources, the vehicle was owned by Fred Dames. Dames was “well known” to police and has been “in and out of the system” for years.

ACP Ferguson said police have no suspects at this time, but are following significant leads. He also said police also have no suspects in the shooting death of a man late on Friday around 11pm off Washington Street.

Police say the victim was at Kings Bar on Robinson Road when a man armed with a handgun walked in and shot him several times. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he died of his injuries a short time later.

Anyone with information on any of the murders is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

Across the inky-blue Gulf Stream from Florida, near the sheer edge of the Great Bahama Bank, a new island is emerging from the sea. Although it bears the appealing name Ocean Cay, this new island is not, and never will be, a palm-fringed paradise of the sort the Bahamian government promotes in travel ads. No brace of love doves would ever choose Ocean Cay for a honeymoon; no beauty in a brief bikini would waste her sweetness on such desert air. Of all the 3,000 islands and islets and cays in the Bahamas, Ocean Cay is the least lovely. It is a flat, roughly rectangular island which, when completed, will be 200 acres and will resemble a barren swatch of the Sahara. Ocean Cay does not need allure. It is being dredged up from the seabed by the Dillingham Corporation of Hawaii for an explicit purpose that will surely repel more tourists than it will attract. In simplest terms, Ocean Cay is a big sandpile on which the Dillingham Corporation will pile more sand that it will subsequently sell on the U.S. mainland. The sand that Dillingham is dredging is a specific form of calcium carbonate called aragonite, which is used primarily in the manufacture of cement and as a soil neutralizer. For the past 5,000 years or so, with the flood of the tide, waters from the deep have moved over the Bahamian shallows, usually warming them in the process so that some of the calcium carbonate in solution precipitated out. As a consequence, today along edges of the Great Bahama Bank there are broad drifts, long bars and curving barchans of pure aragonite. Limestone, the prime source of calcium carbonate, must be quarried, crushed and recrushed, and in some instances refined before it can be utilized. By contrast, the aragonite of the Bahamian shallows is loose and shifty stuff, easily sucked up by a hydraulic dredge from a depth of one or two fathoms. The largest granules in the Bahamian drifts are little more than a millimeter in diameter. Because of its fineness and purity, the Bahamian aragonite can be used, agriculturally or industrially, without much fuss and bother. It is a unique endowment. There are similar aragonite drifts scattered here and there in the warm shallows of the world, but nowhere as abundantly as in the Bahamas. In exchange for royalties, the Dillingham Corporation has exclusive rights in four Bahamian areas totaling 8,235 square miles. In these areas there are about four billion cubic yards—roughly 7.5 billion long tons—of aragonite. At rock-bottom price the whole deposit is worth more than $15 billion. An experienced dredging company like Dillingham should be able to suck up 10 million tons a year, which will net the Bahamian government an annual royalty of about $600,000.

John says...

Christ tells us to search the scriptures for ourselves to find the truth, rather than depending on someone to teach us. So Jesus tells us that murder does not begin with murder, like we see it, but t begins in the heart: '“You’re familiar with the command to the ancients, ‘Do not murder.’ I’m telling you that anyone who is so much as angry with a brother or sister is guilty of murder. Carelessly call a brother ‘idiot!’ and you just might find yourself hauled into court. Thoughtlessly yell ‘stupid!’ at a sister and you are on the brink of hellfire. The simple moral fact is that words kill.” Matthew 5:21-22 When a person holds anger, a grudge, hatred or jealousy in his heart towards someone, he is already on his way to committing murder. The problem with murder started ( the Bahamas) back in the 1980's. So what significant thing happened in the 1980's in the Bahamas? Besides the fact that there was a powerful drug epidemic back then, Bahamians started to live more "loosely'. There was a break down of the social fabric and the family structure. Many women found themselves no only having children out of wedlock, and raising them without a father, but also having abortions to get rid of unwanted pregnancies. Abortion is a form of murder: ""For you [God] created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb" (Psalm 139:13).

"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctioned thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations"(Jeremiah 1:5).
And so murders on a wide scale began in this country. Mothers taking lives of their own, innocent , unborn children The bible says that when the soil becomes defiled with innocent blood , psalms 106:38,"37They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons, 38And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and their daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with the blood. 39Thus they became unclean in their practices, And played the harlot in their deeds.… And so there was famine in the land, famine not for the lack of food but for the lack of knowledge. People perish for the lack of knowledge. So the children were taught lies, rather than the word of God, and so with a head full of lies and a heart full of hatred towards his brother many became murders. Over TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED MURDERS committed I the Bahamas and outside the womb in 40 years.

John says...

The bible further tells who is the father of all murderers and liars: " Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." And then some women will say, "How the devil is the father of my son, I never sleep with him." Well Eve never slept with the devil either. She had a son but did she born a murderer? Well Christ says murder is first committed in the heart, when you hold anger and contempt and hatred and jealousy towards your brother. So Eve did NOT give birth to a murderer. Just as she was beguiled by satan posing as a serpent, so did her son, Cain allowed the devil to get the better of him. Rather than make a blood sacrifice, as God had requested, he chose to disobey God and offer fruit of the ground. "Heb 11:4 “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.” Satan rebelled in heaven and Cain rebelled on earth, AND so he became a murderer, a child of the devil. Today that is what we have in the Bahamas. Children filled with a rebellious spirit. An unrighteous spirit a coverteous siprit. A jealous and revenging spirit. (Jezebel?) They do not have the truth in them, because the were never taught the word of God but they were fed the lies of their father, the devil. We have the children of satan (a murderer) possessing the body of man and acting with the spirit of jealousy and vengeance. They , children of Cain. But all is not lost. Christ tells us that HOW TO STOP THE MURDERS! First John 3:12 tells us, "For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; 12not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous.… We have to convert them and teaching them the word of God. You must allow them to replace the anger and revenge and hatred that dwells in their heart with positive. All may not come and many may be lost
