EDITOR, The Tribune.
Not so long ago the Caribbean Telephone sector held their Convention at Atlantis, Paradise Island.
At that time, we were told that BTC was experiencing 40,000 dropped calls per day. Listening to the news last evening, we were told that prior to the GM taking his appointment, the number of dropped calls was 70,000 per day.
Can someone investigate precisely how many dropped calls are there, as if we were at 40,000 per day and still is this all “spin”.
What was the cost of repainting or leasing all those vehicles?
What the public wants Mr General Manager, is a price-conscious system that provides good service 24/7 – got nothing to do with being a loyal customer or nationalistic, it is basic... cost and service... as it is with any consumer service.
2015 will be, I predict, the demise of what we know as BTC today... the reason being the devastating competition, that will come for the retail business. That is why C&W acquired the interest in Columbus Communications, the fibre cable is to ensure the company will have some revenue, and can control the Caribbean, as no one else is going to take on the expense of putting down an alternative cable.
C&W-LIME-BTC will lose at least 60 per cent of its Bahamas market share to whomever comes in... it is inevitable.

Mr. Ingraham did say Bahamians need not apply. they will mess up BTC in two years, The English were better. Every time I experience a dropped call on my line phone I remember the FNM 's Papa.. What a great big mess.

I think you are taking what Ingraham said out of context. He was really referring to that Blue Water crew that was made up of tiefin' politicians, who were poised to get in on the communication gravy train, by buying the company for little or nothing, while still not improving the service. I am sure some consideration would have been given to a Bahamian company once a viable plan had been presented and they were able to prove that they had the financial backing.

If you want to believe that just go right ahead... have you read that persons who own a daily newspaper and an insurance company wanted to buy BTC. and all of the profits would have stayed in the Bahamas. The FNM Papa said what he meant and meant what he said. Try as you like you can not help him. Those are the facts.

Yeah, but running a newspaper and an insurance company successfully does not make the owners of these companies experts in the telecommunications industry.
