A WOMAN died after being stabbed multiple times following an argument last night - and police have arrested her boyfriend as a suspect in the crime.
After the incident, police went to another address, where they found the 30-year-old suspect suffering from self-inflicted stab wounds. He is now under heavy police guard in hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.
Officers said that the incident took place shortly before 9pm, after the woman and her boyfriend had an altercation.
The victim was stabbed multiple times at a home on Alfred Way, off Winders Terrace. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police then went to a hoe on Shrimp Road, off Carmichael Road, and found the suspect in need of medical treatment. He was taken into custody and transported to hospital.
In a separate incident last night, a man survived after being shot in the face as he stood in front of his home at Weir Corner, off Baillou Hill Road North.
The incident took place at about 8pm, when a man armed with a handgun shot him before fleeing on foot.
The victim is in stable condition in hospital.
Police also reported a sudden death of a Jamaican national who died on board an aircraft en route from New Providence to Bimini.
The incident took place on Saturday. Police said they received information shortly after 4pm that a man had died on board an airline.
On landing in Bimini, officers there responded along with a doctor from the Bimini Clinic who pronounced the man dead. Investigations are continuing.
Police are also seeking help from the public after three armed robberies this weekend.
In the first incident, shortly after 12.30pm on Saturday, a man armed with a handgun robbed a convenience store on Market Street and Windsor Lane of an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing on foot.
The second robbery took place shortly after 11pm on Saturday when a man standing in front of his home in Hillside Estates was robbed by two men armed with a handgun, who took a set of keys from him before fleeing on foot.
The third incident took place at about 3am yesterday, when a man standing in front of a bar on Robinson Road was robbed by a gang of men armed with a handgun, who gun-butted him and took cash before fleeing on foot.
Police also said that a shotgun was seized and eight people arrested for a variety of offences, including armed robbery, firearm possession and vehicle theft during two operations on Saturday under the command of Chief Superintendents Ashton Greenslade and Clayton Fernander.
In Grand Bahama, a 33-year-old man has also been arrested at the domestic terminal at the airport for possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply. On Saturday, shortly after 6pm, police arrested the man, of Bass Lane, Grand Bahama, when he attempted to clear the airport security check. The estimated weight of the suspected drugs is 1.3lbs, worth about $1,000.
Investigations are continuing.
