A MAN is in serious condition in hospital after he was shot in the head at Potter’s Cay Dock on National Heroes Day.
According to police, the man was standing with two women on the dock when another man armed with a handgun shot him in the head and fled the scene on foot.
It happened shortly after 9.30pm on Monday, police said.
The victim was taken to hospital soon after.
This follows reports from police that they were investigating seven separate shootings and a stabbing incident over the weekend. As a result, four people were left in serious and one in critical condition in hospital.
On Sunday, shortly after 7pm, a man and a woman were driving in a car on Sumner Street in Nassau Village when four men on two motorcycles, armed with handguns, pulled up beside their vehicle and fired several shots. The woman was hit in the head.
She was taken to hospital where she is listed in serious condition, police said.
Almost an half hour later, a man was driving his car on Balfour Avenue and Miami Street when four men on two motorcycles, armed with handguns, pulled alongside the vehicle and fired several shots at the vehicle, hitting the driver in the arm and chest.
He was taken to hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.
Further, police reported that shortly after midnight on Sunday, a man was standing in front of a bar on Miami Street when another man armed with a handgun shot him in the chest.
“Coincidentally, the suspect in this matter accidentally shot himself in the foot before he shot the other man,” police said.
The victim and suspect were taken to hospital, where they were last listed in stable condition. The suspect is being detained under heavy police guard.
On Saturday, a man was walking on Collins Avenue when a gunman shot him in the leg and fled on foot. The victim was taken to hospital where he was listed in stable condition. It happened shortly after 9pm.
Shortly after 1am on Saturday, a group of men were reportedly gambling on Baldwin Avenue off Farrington Road, when a lone gunman fired several shots at them and fled on foot, police said.
One of the men was shot in his head and the other in his thigh. The victims were taken to hospital, where the man shot in his head is in critical condition. The condition of the other man is listed as stable.
On Friday another incident saw a young man, who was walking on Dennis Court in Yellow Elder Gardens, shot. Police said two men armed with a handgun fired at the victim which wounded his hand. He was taken to hospital.
Then shortly before midnight on Friday, a man was walking on Toote Shop Corner off East Street when he was shot in his chest and leg by the occupants of a dark-coloured vehicle. The victim was taken to hospital, where he was detained in serious condition.

Man..are these random shootings or what? They seem far too coincidental to be deliberate. How did they know that man would be walking on Collins Avenue? How did they know where to find the people they drive-by shot? I'm so confused by these criminals...and head shots at that! These people are shooting to kill!
