The deed is done

EDITOR, The Tribune.

It is nothing short of amazing how Prime Perry Christie has the incredible ability to take a seemingly simple and straight forward execution of his duties as Prime Minister; leader of the nation, and turn them into something nefarious, this is when he finally decides to take action; only bringing more question than answers while speaking in what seems to be riddles that only seem to further complicate the matter.

Now the deed has been done; “Wells fired – firing coming 12 weeks after PM asked Wells to resign”, The Nassau Guardian. Excerpt from this article, “Months of raging controversy over the signing of a letter of intent (LOI) for a New Providence landfill project came to a head last night with a simple announcement from the Cabinet that Renward Wells is no longer parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Works.”

The Prime Minister, after all the back and forth with the Hon Renward Wells MP, should at the very least at this time have an explanation to the public as to why Mr Wells felt compelled to sign this document without cabinet’s approval, but at this time I do not see an explanation coming anytime soon, maybe as Bradley Roberts would put with the “second coming”.

“It is unclear whether Prime Minister Perry Christie still intends to provide an explanation surrounding the signing of the LOI. Christie did not provide an opportunity for reporters to ask him questions on national issues yesterday as he said he would a day earlier.”

The Prime Minister’s actions to this point have become questionable as he had asked Renward Wells to resign over a month ago and was told no by Mr Wells. Then that was some “investigation” launched into the matter and the Prime Minister was supposed to act on the results of this investigation yet the Prime Minister makes no reference to a report or an investigation but simply says: “You could not assume if I spoke to him one day, that my position has not changed, and therefore if I am sitting here in Parliament when a member is defying me, I have the capacity to tell him to get out.”

Maybe the results of this investigation is not for the public to see as the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and Mr Renward Wells refuse to speak to it, but there is no doubt in my mind had more swift action been taken on behalf of the Prime Minister, then he would have been able to curtail the mounting speculation and supposition surrounding this issue; the main question being who actually authorised Mr Wells to sign this document without cabinet approval, as we have long since dismissed the notion that he would have taken it upon himself to sign said document.

Nevertheless, the deed has been done, Mr Wells has been fired and at this point we have no real reason as to why he was fired. We now await the reaction to this from others that sought the truth in this matter; we await Dr Rollins’ reaction since his “friend” has been fired. Given the comments from Reward Wells since his termination, I say this will end right here within the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP), only to be heard of again by “others” that seek the truth, but will be destined to never know it.

This “carnival” has been quite interesting and entertaining, to say the very least and as the PLP burns this bridge behind them, the only persons that are left to query that a bridge once stood there are the ones that looked to use it to reach the truth but in the words of the Prime Minister –as I speak them to the Prime Minister as he admonished Mr Renward Wells in the House of Assembly – “speak the truth.”

I heard that the whole problem was that Brave was offered $21 million and Christie was offer $16 million (under the table).

Christie was naturally pissed that Brave was getting more.

Wells was waiting to see what he could get out of the cookie jar.

Being a newbie he didn't know that the concept is to reach right in and grab what you think you can get, not wait to be offered something.

So, Now we need to find out who got what..

Time will tell and people know what went down.

Well figured that if he got $5million and Christie and Brave both got the same then the issue would go away.

But Brave wasn't willing to part with some of his share...
