An American resident of Whykees Estates, Eleuthera has died after his plane crashed in bad weather.
According to reports, around 8:30am on Friday the man was piloting his Cessna 310 aircraft and attempted to land at the Governor’s Harbour Airport when he encountered poor visibility and bad weather. The local Air Traffic Controllers directed him to the North Eleuthera Airport. The control tower eventually lost communication with the aircraft some time later.
Around 4:30pm, a resident of James Cistern, Eleuthera observed the body of a man on the shoreline strapped in an aircraft seat. EMS responded to the scene where the male was pronounced dead by the local doctor. The body was flown to Nassau, where an autopsy will be held to determine the exact cause of death. The Bahamas Flight Standard Inspectorate will continue investigation into the cause of the crash.

man served in WWII, Korean and Nam. flew everything from stinson to G3.
taught me more about life than my own father.
he will be missed.
