THE Daniel Johnson Carmicheal Road Surgeons are the new men’s champions of the Urban Renewal Basketball Tournament.
The Surgeons won the Furniture Plus title on Saturday night as they defeated the Glenys Hanna Martin Englerston Urban Renewal Center West 45-43.
Winning the late Paul Patrick Lee Darville Award as the most valuable player (MVP) was David Taylor from the Surgeons.
The championship game that had to be moved from the BTC Mother Pratt Basketball Park in Englerston to the AF Adderley Gymnasium because of the rain, brought the 10-week tournament to a close which also featured the baby boys, the girls and the 19-and-under championship games.
The girls’ game was played between the Fox Hill Urban Renewal Center and the Kemp Road Urban Renewal Center and the 19-and-under junior boys championship game was between the Bahamas Waste Tall Pines Teleos Christian Academy School and the Nassau Village Urban Renewal Center team.
