CONSULTATIONS with Bahamas Consul General to Atlanta Randy Rolle and his superiors continue over what led to his arrest in Bimini during the Easter holiday weekend, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell yesterday.

Mr Rolle was handcuffed and taken into police custody for disorderly conduct, according to Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade, after officers on the island denied him access to a barricaded area during an event. The incident happened on Friday, April 3.

Mr Mitchell said: “I wish to say to the House the following: On April 9, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised the public that Bahamas Consul General to Atlanta Randy Rolle had returned to Nassau for consultations with his principals at the headquarters. Those consultations continue.”

A short while after his arrest, Mr Rolle was released without charge. The Free National Movement, who raised the alarm on the matter, has alleged that there was high-level interference involved in his release.

Mr Greenslade has told The Tribune that the decision to free Mr Rolle came solely from the discretion of an assistant superintendent in Bimini. Mr Rolle has denied that there was any political involvement in his release from police custody.

Comrades why would there be consultations with the Consul General get all the answers over what led to his arrest in Bimini during the Easter holiday weekend. The Consul General is reported to have established he lied when to told the media, he had not been arrested, so why is he now to be believed? I sure wouldn't. Would you?

It sounds like the best minds in the PLP cannot come up with a suitable spin to this story. Heaven forbid they actually have to admit that one of their cronies is a douchebag.

What qualifies Mr. Rolle to be Consular General of the Bahamas in any case? I have been wondering from the get go: What distinguishes him for such a post? The resume listed is painfully thin. So one must conclude that he is either friend, family or lover. He has to be one and therefore the PLP need to stop posturing. We know what will happen and that no accountability will be demanded.

The fact that he is still in "consultation" says ALOT. Aside from that, they are probably just laying low until they think the story has blown over

The PLP think that all Bahamians are stupid, and will believe anything they say. Fortunately that only applies to the apologists who frequent here. A little "Birdie" told me that.

While I am preparing my barbecue for me lobster tails, lets say you are among one them wanting to replace the embattled Consul General, (cuz you knows he's history) how out of reach is the job to the ordinary native Joe or Mary? Firstly, it ain't type job someone without serious political connections have even the slightest hope in hell get. So, any chance that Comrades like a Tal, Banker, Greentea or K4C can expect be receiving a Atlanta job offer from da PM, tis a faint to slim hope.
