Man on bicycle hit by car and killed in Abaco

A MAN on a bicycle in Abaco has been killed in a traffic accident and the suspected driver involved arrested by police.

Officers in Abaco are investigating the incident that left the 49-year-old male resident of the Pigeon Pea dead. According to reports, shortly after 9pm on Friday a man travelling north on his bicycle on Don McKay Boulevard was struck by a vehicle also travelling north but which did not stop. EMS personnel were called to the scene and the victim was transported to the Marsh Harbour Clinic, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor.

Acting on information, officers later arrested a 26-year-old male resident of Central Pines, Abaco, and New Providence and recovered a silver 2000 Buick Century that is believed to be the vehicle involved in the accident. Investigations continue.
