NHI should not be forced upon us

EDITOR, The Tribune.

AS A Bahamian citizen I take great objection to the fact that the present government wants to Force National Health Insurance down our throats.

I personally do not want National Health Insurance. Any thing that is run by the government comes to ruin.

Look at the state of government buildings, look at the favouritism that is involved in who gets a government job. Think about how long you have to wait to see the doctor at the hospital now. Imagine when everyone has to come there.

Look at the amount of stealing and corruption that goes on in the government sector!

Didn’t they recently release a report about missing money and drugs that can’t be accounted for at PMH?

Secondly, our country cannot afford any more taxes!

I do not understand why such a caring government wants to force more taxes on the Bahamian.

Large countries like England and Canada who are efficient in collecting all of their taxes are having problems with NHI and I mean financial problems.

Why does a country like The Bahamas, which cannot afford it, and needs to get out of debt want to take on more expense?

And again why is this being forced on the people? Is this a Communist country?

I, along with many others prefer to keep my private insurance. That is my right!

I still go to doctors I can afford in spite of having insurance and before I got insurance I went to the hospital.

The government cannot take care of everyone.

The government should focus on improving the hospital and the services offered.

Do not implement something just because you promised to do it during election!

Use wisdom and stop taking away the rights of Bahamians.

If the government wants to assist those who are interested with a programme that’s another story, but do not force NHI on us.

TIRED OF BEING PUSHED AROUND!
