Who will walk on these sidewalks?

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Why is Public Works wasting “000’s” of dollars on building side-walks, from Independence Roundabout all the way to Marathon – must be over a mile long?

Who will ever walk this? Between Town Centre Mall going east, there are on the north side a number of houses that illegally claimed access onto Harrold Road … why with the building of this sidewalk have these accesses have not been blocked off? Minister: If you need something to do, get in your car and drive around all the public parks, and ensure that they are clean, and all the garbage that will be on them after the holidays is removed efficiently.

Could you imagine that the workers are not given the needed equipment to clean the parks and beach areas?

If trees or bushes have to be trimmed, they have to use their own tools!

Why are our few beaches and areas of them always so dirty?

Minister of Public Works & Urban Development get to constructive work and please stop wasting Treasury money on the longest sidewalk in the Caribbean, which will never be walked on.

My guess as to why the workers do not have the tools and garbage bags they need is because the funds allocated for such things have been embezzled. I have heard many storys of such illegal behavior on the part of civil servants. The sidewalks to nowhere are a waste of taxpayer monies and is a scheme in which to buy votes. It is all so transparent (and about the only thing that is), we can see exactly what is going on, yet nobody cares.

The multitude of mainland Chinese coming our way from Red China, thanks to the very favourable immigration policies established for them by Christie and Mitchell, will be using all of those sidewalks. Most of them walk or ride bicycle everywhere because they cannot drive or afford automobiles.
