Woman, 20, pictured with high-powered rifle on social media arrested

POLICE have arrested a 20-year-old woman for questioning over firearms possession in response to a recent social media posting of a female posing with a high-powered assault rifle.

Police initiated an investigation after several photos of a woman posing with an illegal weapon was posted publicly on various social media sites.

It is the second such arrest in three days after police took into custody a 26-year-old man on Tuesday night after several photos of him posing with handguns and suspected marijuana along with an infant surfaced on social media.

The four photos, which were posted on Facebook on Monday, were shared more than 200 times. The suspect was arrested shortly after 11pm in a home on Baillou Hill Road South, police said.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) initiated the investigation after the photos went viral and arrested the suspect in reference to illegal firearm possession, dangerous drugs and child endangerment.

In one of the photos, a man’s hand is seen holding a black handgun placed in the baby’s lap. The child, who is sitting outside, is seen smiling in the photo. In another, the suspect is seen sitting next to the child as he holds the firearm in front of his mouth.

The baby is also seen alone on a bed with a clear, plastic bag of suspected marijuana placed in his lap. A baby bottle and an unused diaper are also seen in the photo. A fourth photo shows the suspect posing alone with his eyes closed, holding a silver handgun against his temple.

Police have issued a “stern warning” to social media users who break the law “that they will be tracked down and be dealt with robustly according to the law.”

And this, folks, is the product of our education system -- people too stupid to realise their stupidity has consequences. And where is child services for the little baby made to pose with drugs and weapons? No wonder our children are so messed up when they have stupid criminals for parents.

Children brought up like this, surrounded with guns and drugs, are also more likely to locate a firearm (hidden about the house?) and end up harming themselves by playing with it; just doing what they see the grownups do.
