A MAN wanted for murder and eight other criminal offences on Friday claimed he was "gun-butted" by police and bitten by a police dog at the time of his capture.

Jamal Emery Gibson, aka "Eggy," appearing before Chief Justice Joyann Ferguson-Pratt, claimed he suffered a bloodshot eye and a "shaky tooth" after allegedly being "kicked" and "stomped" by his captors. He also claimed that police told him that they wanted to kill him.

Prior to his capture, the 25-year-old from Step Street was the subject of a heavy police search in connection with the September 29, 2014 murder of 36-year-old Ricardo Moss and attempted murder of three other people, including former PLP election campaign manager, Carlos Lamm.

He was also wanted for nine other offences, including three counts of assault with a deadly weapon against three police officers and another two for assaulting two civilians a month before Moss' death. He also was wanted for possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply.

Gibson told the court that on the night of his capture, he became a victim of police brutality.

"When (police) came they snatch me from under the bed, and they gun butt me up and stomp me up," he told the court. "Then they let the dog come upstairs and bite me on my (right) leg. And they tell me they wanted to kill me."

Justice Ferguson-Pratt noted of the allegations but said his murder charge was "out of her jurisdiction" as a Magistrate. She adjourned the matter until March 23 when a Voluntary Bill of Indictment will be read to fast track the case to the Supreme Court.

He was remanded to the Fox Hill Department of Correctional Services until that time.

Regarding Gibson's numerous offences, specifically the murder charge, Moss was killed while sitting with Lamm, Asherton Barton and Damien Gibbs at Grace Terrace off Bernard Road when Gibson reportedly opened fire on them.

Moss was reportedly shot in the head, Lamm was shot to the stomach, Barton in her thigh and Gibbs in his leg.

They were all taken to hospital in a private vehicle. Moss, however did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival.

The other victims, whose conditions had been previously listed as serious, were listed as stable at the time.

For that encounter, Gibson was charged with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder. He was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to Fox Hill.

Gibson was also charged with five counts of assault with a deadly weapon from three separate incidents, along with one count of possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply. According to reports, on December 24, Gibson allegedly assaulted Corporals 2296 St Cyr and 3736 Adderley with a firearm.

Gibson also allegedly assaulted Cpl 2054 Moultrie with a firearm on September 20.

On August 8, Gibson also allegedly assaulted Isaac Gibson and Andrew Gibson with a firearm. Gibson was also allegedly found in possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply.

Gibson plead not guilty to all of the charges. The matter of Gibson's alleged assaults on the police officers was adjourned and transferred to to Court no8.

His alleged assault on Cpl Moultrie was adjourned to July 7, where he will face Chief Justice Ferguson-Pratt again.

As for his alleged assaults on Isaac and Andrew Gibson, that matter was adjourned until February 2 and transferred to Court no1, where he will stand before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.
