A WOMAN apparently suffered a heart attack while driving her car, which crashed into a tree in the Lucaya area on Thursday morning.

Although police have not released the victim’s age and identity, the woman is believed to be Jan Mitchell, the wife of well-known Grand Bahama entertainer Jay Mitchell.

According to Acting Assistant Superintendant Advardo Dames, police have classified the incident as a sudden death, and not as a traffic accident.

He reported that around 8:05am, a white Ford Explorer vehicle driven by a woman and travelling west crashed into a tree at the roundabout at Seahorse and Midshipman Roads.

The woman was discovered slumped over the steering wheel. She was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
