THE Fort Charlotte branch of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) has called for an end to the denigration and mockery of the party resulting from anyone’s ego, personality or selfishness.
The branch further welcomed another opportunity to work along with former Fort Charlotte MP Alfred Sears, saying he was an effective representative who was well loved by constituents.
This comes two days after Fort Charlotte MP Dr Andre Rollins severed ties with the PLP, explaining that it had become obvious that he was no longer wanted in the party.
He parted ways after drama erupted in the House of Assembly on Wednesday night when government MPs made several attempts to block him from contributing to the 2014/2015 budget debate.
The branch said Dr Rollins’ actions were not surprising.
The statement, by branch chairp Donna Moxey, read: “We wish Dr Rollins well, harbour no rancour or ill will and have moved on from this experience to seek a suitably qualified candidate committed to providing the quality of representation the constituents in Fort Charlotte rightly deserve.
“In due course we will follow our policies, procedures and practices in selecting a new candidate to carry the PLP banner in the next general election. We would be less than forthright if we did not publicly state that it is no secret that the former Member of Parliament for Fort Charlotte, Alfred Sears was an effective representative, was well loved by the people of Fort Charlotte and enjoyed an excellent working relationship with the executives and members of the Fort Charlotte Branch.
“Further, Mr Sears has expressed an interest in returning to frontline politics and the branch gladly welcomes another opportunity to work with Mr Sears."
The statement continued: “Moreover, the integrity, brand and symbol of our great political party, whose vision, spirit and policies led our country to Majority Rule, Independence and the modern Bahamas, must be protected and jealously guarded at all costs.
“Our party and our government must no longer be distracted nor continue to be denigrated as a public spectacle or an object of mockery because of anybody’s ego, personality or selfishness.”
On Wednesday night, during a verbal assault on the PLP, Dr Rollins said based on the government's current trajectory, the party had no chance of winning the next election.
It was one of several scathing critiques from Dr Rollins about the PLP’s performance in office over the past three years.
His departure from the governing party came a week after Marco City MP Greg Moss quit the PLP, citing leadership issues at party and executive level.

Question ......................... can Donna Moxey really tell the Bahamian people HOW Andre Rollins ever became a PLP candidate ............... I am sure the people of the constituency can honsetly say it had anything to do with them. So she should not allow herself to be used as a mouthpiece for the PLP inner circle who really make the candidates' selections

**................ Which Orifice Is Branch Chairp Donna Moxey Speaking From ? ..................**
Please tell us some of the wonderful things that MP Alfred Sears did as an effective representative and who these fictional people are that told you he was so well loved by constituents.
If MP Alfred Sears wasn't such a lousy representative the constituents of Fort Charlotte wouldn't have voted him out for Former State Minister of Finance Zhivargo Laing who trounced Alfred Sears backside more than once!
**Politicians still think Bahamians are mindless donkeys willing to believe anything they say "just because they said it" even after 40 years of unfulfilled promises.**
Has Alfred Sears EVER stood in Parliament and voiced the concern of the constituents of Fort Charlotte regarding the rank friends, family and lovers to the exclusion of all others nepotism the PLP is so well known for?
In all his years as MP please enlighten us when it was that Alfred Sears addressed the systemic corruption that permeates government to the point of dysfunctional paralyses.
Perhaps Chairp Donna Moxey can open her fat orifice again and point to Mr. Sears record of diligently protecting Fort Charlotte constituents from losing jobs to the Haitian invasion that permeates sectors of the constituency and the country at large.
Is Ms. Moxey inferring that the constituents of Fort Charlotte suffer schizophrenia? Why would they have practically unanimously booted "so well loved" Alfred Sears from office if they loved him so?
Dr. Andrea Rollins is the kind or representative the constituents of Fort Charlotte and the entire Bahamas has been waiting for now over 40 years!
If we had 10 more like Dr. Rollins in the Honorable House with his fortitude to STAND UP and speak in the interest of the people we would have a much better country!
**Dr. Rollins is a ***MAN*** of demonstrated, proven, conviction to have the peoples interest at heart above self and beyond party politics and politricks**
Alfred Sears couldn't fill lousy Zhivargo Laing's boots and have **NO HOPE IN HELL** of filling Dr. Rollins boots in Fort Charlotte!
