EDITOR, The Tribune
I am flabbergasted that no less a person than Keith Bell should have opened his mouth to berate the Commissioner of Police, Elliston Greenslade.
I am stunned that Bell, who very few have any respect for, has decided to put pressure on the Commissioner to do as directed by the government.
It is common knowledge that Greenslade has had a tumultuous time doing his job, because some politician is always giving him directives and undermining him.
What Bell did not say is that MPs meddling in the carriage of justice has caused the morale of the magistrates to be weakened, the wrong message sent, thus setting a precedent that you could do wrong and if you have connections you could get off.
We cannot forget the blatant infamous telephone call that sent shockwaves through the Bahamas.
It is also common knowledge that MPs always interfere and have been pressuring the Commissioner to do favours and to give special attention to cases of “friends families and lovers” of the governing party.
It is patently clear to me that Bell either wants Greenslade’s job or is lobbying for a “rehired very senior officer” to take Greenslade’s job.
The politically connected senior officer has been brought back from retirement and promoted, all in the same day. The senior officer is bosom buddy to a very senior PLP MP. We do not know if he is still receiving pension and salary, the same time.
Could Bell’s mysterious pronouncement be the warning shot that the time is now to “slip” the recently recycled senior officer into the top position of the police force?
In my opinion Cheerleader Bell is not smart enough to be saying the things he has said on his own, it is clear to me that he is reciting what has been given to him to say.
We remember Bell well in his capacity in the prosecutor’s office.

And your given name is "sheeprunner12?". Some individuals just prefer to use a pen name,
others just crave the publicity and would not use a pen name to save their own lives.
Different strokes for different folks. An accurate letter like we both agree, nonetheless.

Of course Bell is only echoing the sentiments of his PLP masters (Perry and Nottage), and what he has heard repeated in Cabinet meetings. It is no secret that Perry would like to appoint his recycled senior police officer as top COP. It is Perry's MO. See Williams at BTC, and countless others.
