EDITOR, The Tribune.
ONWARD BOUND
we will plant seeds again
grow green again
and reap
we will craft boats
go to sea
our friend
again
and harvest
we will build love
rise up
out of the waters
of Joaquin
to where we’ve been
and go beyond

Beautiful Mr Cartwright. It is a shame that our government don't possess even a modicum of the noble and indomitable spirit of some of our people.
Illegitimis non carborundum.

This is beautiful and noble, and is a glimmer of hope. Reading this made me happy.

It will take more than poetry to get Long Island moving .................... at all .......... Jerome Cartwright may have to pull out a guitar and serenade some of his rich Conchy Joe and black millionaire Long Islander friends who need to step up and invest in the island that they are so proud to brag about ....................... talk(poetry) is cheap .......... money create jobs

poetry speaks to the soul. money is a tool of 'babylon' system to keep us running circles for them.
Poetry has been of value to humanity for far longer than money
