A woman was discovered brutally murdered following a domestic dispute at an apartment in the Freeport area early Wednesday morning.

Police received a call around 6am requesting assistance and went to an apartment on Gambier Drive, where they discovered a lifeless Caucasian woman with a wound in her upper body.

Police on the island said the victim and her alleged attacker are both foreign nationals, but did not disclose their nationalities.

However, the deceased woman is believed to be a Filipino.

A Caucasian man, who is also believed to be a Filipino, was later taken into police custody and is assisting police with their investigation.

The man, who is believed to be employed at BORCO, was discovered in the Dover’s Sound area after the vehicle he was driving ran into a wall. He was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital by EMS personnel.

Police do not know the motive behind this latest homicide and are still in the early stages of their investigations.

The killing brought the country’s murder count to 114 for the year, according to The Tribune’s records.
