Notice for parking garage

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I have just today seen in the press a Public Notice from Mr Charles E Zonicle, Acting Director of Physical Planning, requesting comments on the proposed parking garage adjacent to the British Colonial Hotel.

Of course, it is obvious to me and to the public at large that the early stages of this garage have already been under construction for several months. I personally have no disagreements in principle to this project, which I have discussed with the developers, but there may well be other parties who have serious legitimate comments and possible objections which they have a right to present.

Therefore I believe that this dilatory announcement marks the height of incompetence by Mr Zonicle’s department. It may become the basis for objecting parties to bring an injunction against further construction, or even for demolishment of construction to date.

Also, it is well known that this garage is simply one element in a much larger project known as The Pointe, by the same owner/developer, a Chinese concern.

I have written to Mr Zonicle asking if he intends to publish a similar notice concerning The Pointe.

There are too many PLP's running around this once lovely country for this major oversight to become an issue. Our government and people just don't care enough about rules and procedures. The money is *flowing* for a few dozen Bahamians.

Yes. Isn't this why they like to serve in high office? The others are just impatient and can't wait their turn.
