TWO men were remanded to prison yesterday after being charged separately in connection with two murders that recently occurred in the capital.

Robert Dorsette, 22, of Turtle Drive stood first before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt accused of intentionally causing the death of Alvardo Derilus on October 17.

Derilus was at Sunshine Park when he got into an argument with two men, resulting in him being shot.

The victim was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Dorsette was not required to enter a plea due to the nature of the offence. He was informed that the case would be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court for trial at his next court appearance on December 16. He was remanded to the Department of Correctional Services without bail. However, he has the right to apply for bail to the higher court.

In the second arraignment, 23-year-old Denico Bowe of Balls Alley was charged in the October 9 murder of Straus Edwards.

Shortly before 10pm, Edwards and another man were about to get into a vehicle at Potter’s Cay, when two men armed with handguns shot them before fleeing on foot. Both men were rushed to the hospital where Edwards died. Bowe, too, was remanded to return to Magistrate’s Court on December 16 for his case to be forwarded to the Supreme Court.
