Dunkin’ for Boobies set to make a splash on Thursday

RADIO House is ready to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Thursday morning with their second Dunkin’ for Boobies fundraising event, which last year raised over $4,000.

The morning shows on 100 Jamz, Kiss 96 and Y98 will be broadcast live from 6am until 10am from the front of Radio House on Shirley Street, where passing motorists will be asked for donations for the fight against breast cancer.

A dunking tank filled with water will be set up again in which to drop Radio House personalities and DJs and nominated corporate figures as a way to encourage listeners to make donations.

With the support of breast cancer survivor Melissa Major, Radio House has partnered with the One Eleuthera Foundation, who will provide volunteers to collect money from passing vehicles and pedestrians. October each year is designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“This year, we have extended an invitation to our clients (advertisers) to take part in this very important cause and challenged them to make a minimum donation of $200 within their business,” J J McKenzie, Director of Promotions/Online Marketing at Radio House, said. “They then can nominate their manager, owner or supervisor to be dunked. In return they will get maximum exposure on all three morning shows and be a part of a fun day.”

“Breast cancer is the number one killer of Bahamian women and most women are not diagnosed until stage three or four. Last year we raised over $4,000. This year we hope to surpass that with the help of our personalities and DJs, our clients and listeners.”

Last year, the Tribune Media Group stations at Radio House were joined by representatives from Doctors Hospital, Bahamas Breast Cancer Initiative Foundation, CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank, Caribbean Bottling Company, Back to Health and Walk for the Cure to “flood the streets with awareness”. Doctors Hospital CEO Charles Sealy and Trevor Torzsas, CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Managing Director of Customer Relationship Management & Strategy, sportingly joined in and took their dunking.

The promoters of this event clearly have no idea how degrading it is for most women who would never consider being a participant. What will these wet T-shirt women do next to raise a small sum of money for breast cancer victims? They could engage in prostitution to raise big time funds!

So are we to assume that Well_mudda_take_sic is about to make a large donation towards the fight for breast cancer victims? A cash donation that exceeds the $4,000 that this event is expected to raise. Maybe he is not aware that it is not the cancer victims that are being dunked (wet T-shirts) but CEO's of participating companies and radio and media personalities. The 'Dunkin for Boobies" headliner/slogan may be a little offbeat and misleading, but the event is expected to be fun and fund raising.

I don't know if he has ever seen a woman come out of the water after a swim in a T-shirt
who may have felt a little shy about wearing a bikini top, its the same thing.

No, not the same thing if the woman is wearing a full swim suit under her T-shirt.

The whole idea is for these women to not to become to self conscious about losing their breasts to cancer and that life goes on afterwards. I nominate mudda_take_sic to take dunking for the cause.
