EDITOR, The Tribune.
Frank Watson is now wondering where have all the talented young FNMs gone. If he wakes up, he will find that they have gone in search of a new party, so fed up are they with the one that Dr Hubert Minnis has led into the ditch.
Mr. Watson needs to gather together the responsible elders in the party and summon the courage to take the keys away from the spoiled politically drunk driver who has crashed the party. It will probably come as a shock to him and many others that the young people have no pain of conscience with not voting come the next election as a sign of protest.
The PLP is simply not an option for them and as long as Dr. Minnis is in charge, then the FNM is a late non-starter. The DNA might get a look-see but many still have buyer’s remorse from the last time.
What has the FNM given young people to be enthused about? They recognize shinola shoe polish when it is being sold them. Still the Minnis leadership circus stumbles on unabated.
Where is the FNM brand headed when the choice for Chairman is between a bombastic carnival barker who joined the party only last year and a lethargic legal practitioner who had to be publicly lectured by the PLP on the subtleties of election law?
Would it not have been better to keep the recently elevated Acting Chairman in the post until the convention, thereby giving more candidates time to suit up and contest the full slate of party offices later this year.
Mr Watson is familiar with things marine and so he should appreciate that fish rot from the head. Fix the stink at the top of the ticket and you’ll be astonished at how many talented young people are ready and able to join team FNM to fight the next election.
Fail to do so and Frank and friends can go look for the best and brightest young people in the work visa line outside the US Embassy on Queen Street.

Economist says...
A number of young educated Bahamians are telling me that they are giving the DNA serious consideration.
They do not see the FNM as a viable alternative at the moment.
Time is running out for the FNM to get its act together and find someone people can follow.
