Bahamian arrested after 51kg of cocaine found at LPIA

POLICE struck another blow against organised drug trafficking in The Bahamas on Sunday with the seizure of a large amount of cocaine and the arrest of a Bahamian male at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA).

Reports are that, shortly after 8am, Police K-9 officers on duty at LPIA Jet Aviation Centre assisted by officers from the Airport Division conducted a search of a chartered aircraft that had just landed and found two large bags containing 51 kilograms of cocaine.

An adult male is in custody assisting Drug Enforcement Officers with their investigations.

This would have been a much better article with more detail. Where did the plane come from? How many people aboard? Bahamian plane? Bahamian pilot? With that much cocaine, it's unlikely this was the final stop -- where was the cocaine bound?

Kudos to our police and RBDF who have lately gotten a fair amount of drugs off the streets. Now I wish we could do the same for guns.
