EDITOR, The Tribune.
In keeping with the Francophiles among us, may I submit that rather than the Coup that everyone is now referring to as a coup d’état, that what took place was in fact a coup de grâce.
As Merriam Webster adds to its dictionary definition “less than fifty years later, “coup de grâce” had come to mean “an act or event that puts a definite end to something”.
This was Minnis’ coup de grâce.
