A MAN convicted of murder and scheduled to return to Supreme Court for sentencing in two weeks escaped custody on Tuesday afternoon, The Tribune has learned.
Soruces close to the matter confirmed to The Tribune that 25-year-old Ormand Leon escaped a prison bus that left Bank Lane en route to the Department of Correctional Services sometime around noon.
Moments prior, Leon was told by Justice Bernard Turner that he would learn, on February 16 at 9.30am, what sentence would imposed on him concerning the July 10, 2011, Independence Day murder of Fransisco Hanna.
Leon faces up to 60 years imprisonment as the Crown has not sought the death penalty concerning the shooting at Wilson Tract.
See Wednesday's Tribune for full details.

The key phrase here is "sometime around noon". That means the guards were too busy sucking a chicken bone to be bothered guarding any murderers.

I wonder what he will do while he's on the run. Hunting for jurors or a judge perhaps??? Now he's facing 60 years plus by running... might as well get rid of those people you hate.

I'm surprised the prison bus slowed down enough to where he could get out of it without hurting himself...those prison bus conveys are reckless menaces.

My thought was why was there an enlarged picture of a siren at the top of the page, but the escaped murderer has his small pictures lower? Shouldn't the focus be more on him?

I guess he just got himself killed. I believe the invisible enforcer will take him down, like so many before him that were on the run or out on bail.
