Man held after being shot by police during shop breaking

Police shot and arrested one man and are searching for three others after a shop breaking incident.

According to reports, police received a report of a shop breaking in progress on Wulff Road, shortly after 4.00am on Sunday. They arrived at the scene to see four men fleeing from a store with firearms. The officers gave chase and caught one of the men who had a sharp object. He was shot during the arrest and taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Police examined the store afterwards and discovered that the suspects had smashed a glass door and stolen a large amount of cash.

Investigations are ongoing.

• Police arrested one man are searching for another in connection with a string of armed robberies that resulted in a number of vehicle, cash and jewellery thefts in recent weeks.

The first suspect was arrested on Friday and police are now hunting for Brandon Cooper of Plantol Street. Police consider him to be armed and dangerous and have advised members of the public not to approach him, but to contact police immediately with any information.
