A POLICE constable and a Royal Bahamas Defence Force marine were taken into custody yesterday afternoon in connection with the alleged rape and abduction of a woman.
Police said the law enforcement officers are being questioned after the woman reported the sexual assault that allegedly took place in western New Providence around 10pm on Monday.
Police did not release any more details but sources said the women was allegedly abducted from Carmichael Road and taken to a remote location out west where she was allegedly assaulted.
Investigations continue.
The allegation comes after several police officers have been arrested or interdicted from the force for unsatisfactory behaviour.
Last week a woman officer was interdicted for her alleged involvement in a brawl with a fellow officer at the funeral of a constable.
In December, a former police officer was charged with armed robbery. The officer was fired from the force shortly before he made his initial court appearance.
