THE Royal Bahamas Defence Force has deployed watercraft in its operations around New Providence to conduct patrols in the wake of reports concerning criminal activities occurring on beaches on or near New Providence, a statement from the RBDF said.
Last year, the RBDF introduced two Yamaha WaveRunners to its Operation Secure Shore. Activated in December 2015, Operation Secure Shore is an expanded operation that really began in 2013, the RBDF said. Personnel and vessels engaged in the operation are responsible for conducting continuous patrols along the coastline and waterways of New Providence.
Due to the operation, a number of persons engaged in criminal activities near the coast of New Providence have been apprehended, the RBDF said. It has also resulted in the recovery of several stolen vessels and vehicles, in addition to bringing migrant smuggling operations on the south coast of the island to a virtual halt with the assistance of patrol craft stationed at Coral Harbour Base.
Last Thursday, the RBDF Jet Ski patrols have expanded to include the northern coast and the neighbouring islands, including Paradise Island. The deployment of the Jet Skis also augments patrols carried out by the RBDF’s Harbour Patrol Unit, which has responsibility for safeguarding cruise ships and waterways near Nassau Harbour.

PHOTO: I suggest lightweight Defense Force tee-shirts and shorts instead of their long camouflage gear. I'm sure it would be easier to maneuver in simple cooler clothing. Don't know what they're wearing on their feet though. Also, tourists (since everyone is so concerned about them) may think they're vacationing in a war zone if they see camouflage-wearing military zooming up and down the shoreline.

First thing I noticed as well... goes to show how they are bullshitting the public. Furthermore, when did the downtime period occur within which these RBDF personnel was trained for this wholly new arena of deployment?
Well cut my legs and call me shorty... better yet... piss on my head and tell me it is raining; but only after you give me this brown feces to eat to say that it is chocolate chip cookie.

So now they add another set of virile, young stallions to the mix. What do you think the results will be?

Right. So is he going to hop off the jet ski and check people's licences or ensure that the watercraft are being used as per legislation? Oh wait, he has no jurisdiction to do that as military. Oh well, let the show continue.

Right on Pubilus... nothing this Officer do on land or in Nassau might be able to stand up in our courts of law. It a matter of jurisdiction.

Shouldn't he have a huge assault rifle strapped to his chest? After all it seems to be a standard issue weapon.
Perhaps they should upgrade the jet skis and put a turret on the front/back.

What you see, is what you will get from Minister Hanna-Martin... and the poor man don't have the intelligence or the courage to make suggestions alternative to what is clearly a hazard to his own life. Are you married? Do you have children? Is your life insurance paid up?

The RBDF cant catch Haitians on wooden sloops going 3 mph........... what makes us believe they can catch crooked hustlers on jet skis???????? ............. the Force is corrupted by politicians/cronies ........................ the jet ski industry is no different from the taxi and public bus or mailboat and charter plane business .......... the kisses go by favours

Honestly though he should be wearing UV Protection shades as well. With all of the sun and glare on the water, he's going to get some serious eye damage.

LOL what my boy trying camouflage with on the water???!?!?! JOKES JHED!!!!
You know actually regulating this industry properly would save them having to send army boys out on the water. You know... incorporate an organization and have all jet ski operators operate through that single organization. Only industry certified members can get on the beach. Furthermore, the gov't may be able to generate it's own revenue if they set up this organization as it will mandate that all jet ski rental operators become part of this organization in order to operate, and obviously fees will have to be allocated to the organization in order to operate. There will be no problems with independent business men, and all accountability will rest with the organization.
But this would actually take planning and work, and long term maintenance and surveillance. This is probably why it's not going to happen. Furthermore, when things go wrong the finger will more readily point at this excuse for gov't and you dun kno they ein want take responsibility for anything (except BJ who taking full credit for any day that no one is murdered.................)
I'd say just make the police take the people out on the jet ski since they dun out there... but with all the news about cops raping people.............................

All these guys will do is harass honest boaters. That is all the harbour patrol unit does, they do not even know the law. How many times have you seen people spearing in the harbour (illegal), how many boats get stolen a week? How many times have you seen the drug boys speeding around the Montague and showing off in their go fast boats? This is just another do nothing unit that will waste our time and money.
