GRAND Bahama recorded its first murder for 2016 when a man was gunned down in the Freeport area on Monday evening.
The shooting occurred sometime around 6pm in the Murchinson and Bass Lane area, where a male victim was found dead in the street, with multiple gunshot injuries to his body.
Inspector Terecita Pinder said when officers arrived at the scene they saw the body of a man lying in the street. She said EMS personnel responded to the scene and checked for vital signs, but there was no sign life.
Insp Pinder said that a 20-year-old Freeport man is assisting police with their investigations into the homicide.
