A CORRECTIONS officer appeared in Magistrate’s Court yesterday facing a charge of possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.

Irvin Bodie Jr, 45, of Avocado Gardens stood before Magistrate Andrew Forbes next to 52-year-old Erin Maria Rolle, accused of being found with a quantity of marijuana on Sunday, March 13.

Both pleaded not guilty to the allegation when addressed by the magistrate.

Police prosecutor Superintendent Ercell Dorsett asked for the matter to be adjourned for 24 hours as a review of the file against the accused pair was ongoing.

The magistrate obliged the request and remanded the pair to the Department of Correctional Services until their reappearance in Magistrate’s Court.

Rolle and Bodie Jr were respectively represented by Tamara Taylor and Elsworth Johnson.

Mr Johnson asked the court to bear in mind his client’s work history and that the authorities at the prison be made aware for his client’s protection.

In a separate arraignment, 36-year-old American Tenesha Quiles pleaded not guilty to possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply and taking preparatory steps to export dangerous drugs.

It is alleged that she was found with cocaine on Sunday, March 13.

On the day in question, officers acted on a tip that led them to the Freeport Harbour. There the officers arrested a woman who was found with two and a half pounds of suspected cocaine strapped to her body. It had an estimated street value of $25,000.

Quiles was informed that she will stand trial on May 9 and would be remanded to prison until such time, as the court did not have the jurisdiction to consider bail.

However, she was advised that she could apply to the Supreme Court for a bond.

The accused has retained Carlson Shurland to represent her.
