NPWBA ACTION
THE New Providence Basketball Association opened its first round best-of-three playoffs Tuesday night at the DW Davis Gymnasium.
In the opener, the undefeated Bommer G Operators defeated the fourth place Super Value Cybot Queens 75-58. Philicia Kelly scored 22 points and Ruth Ann Simms added 13 points and 14 rebounds.
In the feature game, the defending champions Johnson’s Lady Truckers defeated the Career Builders Cheetahs.
Glenda Gilcud scored 16 points; Shantelle Rolle had 15 points; Latoya Rolle 13 points and 16 rebounds and Janice Williams added 18 rebounds.
Game two in both series will be played Thursday night at 7:30 with the Truckers playing the Cheetahs and at 8:30, the Operators will play the Cybot Queens.

JAMAICA
AN eight-member contingent from the College of The Bahamas’ track and field team is off to the University of the West Indies, Jamaica, to compete in the UWI Invitational this weekend.
The team consists of: Leonardo Romer - javelin; Ashley Oembler - discus and shot put; Deneisha Bagot - high jump; Yurick Dean - 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m; Dennis Williamson - 200m, 400m and 4 x 100m; Fabian Murray - 200m, 400m and 4 x 100m; Jessi Wilson - 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m and Jordan Minnis - 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m
The team will be led by coach Mark Humes.
