2.30pm UPDATE: The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has also issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Bimini, Grand Bahama, North Andros the Berry islands and New Providence from 2.15pm until 4.15pm. The warning advised: “Boaters in the warning area should seek safe harbour immediately and residents in the warning area should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen. Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightning conductors”.
A thunderstorm warning has been issued for Nassau and Freeport by AccuWeather.
Between 2pm and 9pm on Wednesday a collection of thunderstorms will approach from the southwest and continue to work northeast across the region. These thunderstorms have been producing intense lightning and heavy downpours. Rainfall rates with these thunderstorms have been consistently on the order of .50-.075 inches an hour, and total rainfall amounts will range from 1.00-2.00 inches. Winds also have the potential to gust to 30 mph.
