EDITOR, The Tribune.
June 8th, maybe a new day for the following organisations around our Bahamas.
(1) Bahamas Girl Guides
(2) Bahamas Boys Scouts
(3) Sorties where women are the sole members, example Links.
(4) Anglican Women’s Auxiliary
(5) Anglican men
(6) Knights of Columbus
(7) Catholic Women
(8) Sorties which are exclusively for male members
(9) Any Civic Club which is gender segregated.
(10) PLP Women’s Association
(11) FNM Women’s Association
(12) Any male or woman’s exclusive choir.
Just wonder if the Catholic Bishop realises now his church cannot refuse a female candidate for the priesthood? One topsy-turvy Bahamas! Just laugh’n at wee self!

What right does a Bahamian man have that a Bahamian woman does not have legal access to?????? ........... please do not say passing on citizenship to children or spouse....... that is a lie .............. what the issue with this referendum is the issue of "automatic at birth/marriage" ....... but we have to weigh the consequences of opening up this access to everyone in the long term ....... we have a large non-Bahamian population (probably 30%) with many more (probably 60%) who will have this potential "automatic" right after a YES vote on June 7 ....... do we really want to take that risk with our citizenship status for the next 100 years???????

Bahamians had better mark their "X" on the ballot next to the picture of the gate, as it represents (1) the gate to keep thousands of foreigners (wanting Bahamian status) out of our country and (2) the gate to keep same-sex marriages from happening in our country! The corrupt Ingraham-led FNM and Christie-led PLP governments of the past three decades think we are all fools. Even though many of us are either unemployed or under employed, our corrupt government is now hell bent on granting thousands of foreigners Bahamian status in exchange for their vote down the road. We can't afford to let this happen. Bahamians must show up at the polls on June 7th and vote a resounding "NO!" to all four of the proposed amendments to our constitution. Remember....just mark your "X" next to the picture of the gate on your ballot. We must all vote "NO" otherwise we and our families will really be sorry when the wave of foreigners come to our shores to take our jobs for less pay!

When a Bahamian man has sex with an undocumented or resident foreigner living in The Bahamas and he is not married to her ...... and a child is produced, that child currently carries the status of the mother
Imagine if the Referendum passes .......... that man will now have the right to claim that child and give that child Bahamian status ........ even though he has NO binding relationship with the mother who is the primary caregiver of the child
What then happens to the mother ....... will that become a back-door way of legalizing these non Bahamian women??????? .......... or are we now going to rip these children away from their undocumented mothers (if they have to be repatriated)
We are now creating a moral, legal and ethical dilemma with this growing segment of the female underground population of our country
I would like to hear how the YES folks will solve this real-life problem
