SEVEN Cuban migrants brought to Grand Bahama after being picked up by the US Coast Guards in Bahamian waters this week were flown to Nassau on Friday and detained at the Detention Centre to await repatriation.
The US Coast Cutter Bernard Webber intercepted a rustic vessel in the Cay Sal Bank area on Wednesday. There were four men and three women onboard who claimed they had left Cuba on May 6.
The group was turned over to immigration officials at the Lucayan Harbour around 7pm on Thursday. Officials reported that the migrants had suffered facial sun burn but were in good health otherwise.

Is this the primary reason why the Coast Guard operates in our waters????? ....... to intercept Cuban and Haitians before they reach the US soil???????? ........ then put the financial burden of processing, housing and repatriating these people on us???????? ............. very clever and disingenuous ........... why not take them to Miami or Havana or Port-au-Prince on board the Coast Guard boat????

Its really weird also whenever US catches them in their waters and has to ship them back. They keep them on the boat and ship them back. Our new boats are mostly the same size as theirs. I don't understand why we don't do the same when we catch them. Are the Haitians dragging their feet and refusing to accept them but US seems to get approval in a few hours!!! http://navaltoday.com/2014/09/01/uscg-r…

US Budgets have shrunk. It is an absolute failure of our Bahamas to have for the past 25 years unable to directly return some 5,000 illegals yearly from Haiti and Cuba and brought to Nassau, fed, housed and sent back by BAHAMASAIR JET PLANE already done half billion debt. Negative stories from our Detention Centre jeopardizes our Tourism image. Bahamian TAXPAYERS need tougher talks with these countries and tougher measures to STOP this illegal business. Appeasement with countries destabilizing yours never works. We are being COLONIZED by well defined groups holding different interests than looking out for English speaking Bahamians and some groups even 'permitted' to living in little illegal colonies where Bahamian laws are not followed like Building Codes. Contrasting this is the fact of HIGHLY PATRIOTIC BAHAMIANS following these laws and struggling have their houses repossessed, lights turned off while these illegal colonies exist.
