Two US visitors held for failing to declare $64,000

AN American man and woman from New Jersey were taken into custody for failing to declare $64,000 and making a false declaration on Monday, police said.

According to police reports, shortly after 11am, the two were returning to the United States, when US Customs and Border Protection officials detained them at the US Pre-Clearance Departure Lounge at the Lynden Pindling International Airport for failing to declare $64,522.

They are expected to face court charges soon.

How is it that 2 americans, who were on american soil (isn't the us pre-clearance lounge considered american soil?) are tired in baxhmaianina courts for what is a crime for america?
