A 62-year-old man is dead following a traffic accident in the Eight Mile Rock area on Wednesday evening.

According to police, the pedestrian, while attempting to cross the street, was hit by a 2004 gold-coloured Ford Taurus car. The victim was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police advised motorists to drive with caution and urged pedestrians to wear bright coloured clothing while walking at night.
