**... Most Important Requisite In Securing My Vote Is They *MUST NOT* Be PLP Or FNM! ...**
4 decades of unchecked massive corruption, friends family & lovers and asinine political stupidity is enough.
PLP and FNM have run their course, cannot be remotely trusted and have unquestionably proven they don't give a damn about the well being of average Bahamians.

I am looking for a party with a plan to get the finances of this country under control by stopping all the waste (possible theft) in the Government Ministries. How they will ensure a balanced budget.
I also want to see what ideas they have as to how to expand our economy in ways that make it less reliable on the Financial and Tourism sectors.
They need to show, not just say they will, but clearly explain how they are going to create 35,000 new jobs in 5 years or 65,000 new jobs in 10 years.
How they are going to avoid a down grade to "junk bond" status and how they are going to ensure that The Bahamian dollar does not get devalued.

I agree. No more PLP or FNM for me. I'm tired of being hoodwinked by these money hungry carpet baggers that launder the nation's funds into their and their friends' pockets. Another key trait is transparency. This is key. Everything must now be in the open, so tired of private deals that benefit the cronies. Another is crime. The party in power must treat crime like the national emergency it is, not some racist plot to imprison the grass roots.

We need a party in power that is ready to do the heavy lifting to restructure the Bahamas from the bottom up, moving it from a failed state to a logical, well oiled company. The fundamentals of the Bahamas are bad and this is what must be corrected: 1. A direct power line from Florida to Nassau. 2. A land registry and term limits. 3. Accountability and prosecution for theft in the public sector. 4. Death penalty and much, much more active street policing. 5. Stop international borrowing period. 6. Complete trasparency and auditing of the expenditure of public funds. 7. Renewable energy focussed. 8. Not in it to win it but to serve.

We need responsible government, period!! No more party partisanship, no more African style governance.
We need to seriously overhaul overhaul and revamp the educational system to include curriculum, administrators and teachers.
We need a real Freedom of Information Act.
We need an immediate investigation into the theft, disappearance of the millions of dollars of Public Funds spanning successive governments with the perpetrators prosecuted and punished to the fullest extent of the law regardless of political position or persuasion.
Of course for this we need a Judiciary and police force free of political influence and interference.
We need an Attorney Generals Office independent of any political party or organization.
We need complete transparency in all future expenditure of Public Funds and tyhe awarding of All government contracts.
We need a two term limit for the Office of Prime Minister.
We need a new system of politics where our representatives, and more especially the Prime Minister, are chosen by the people they represent and not by bought and paid for Stalwart Counselors.

I'm looking for a party with a new tax plan, a well layed out foreign policy, a 50 year economic plan to diversify the country well thought out and detailed energy policy, a Party ready for fiscal reform, a party ready to reduce the dictatorial powers of the Prime Ministers, a Party reading to make the AG a separate office not political influenced, a party willing to jail or put to death corrupt politicians/civil servants/police officers etc. (from old to young) as well as cease their assets for the state (it's the people's money anyway).
But more than anything I want a party that's just that... a party. Not BranVille and his goons, Not Perry and the boys on the block, and not Minnis with the Guinness. a party that rallies around policy and a political ideology not 1 fucking man. tired of the Strongman politics.
But I'm not going to get that, ever, because this is the Bahamas nothing ever makes sense in this place.

Extremely well said, ikalikl! Many citizens will agree but sadly, mourn the lack of such persons. However, let us remain optimistic. There must be a champion somewhere out there!

I would be looking for pretty much the same qualities one would expect in a fair and balanced free press. Qualities the The Tribune sorely lacks!

The one young man or woman who will put nation above life and limb to protect her from the political rot we are in with corruption and graff etc.! That person must be willing to do whatever it takes to remove those who take part in wholesale corruption by any means necessary! Until that young person comes on the national stage. . . I remain a swing voter. . .I will take the side of the party that is more willing to be radical towards corrupt national behavior. I read a paper written by a third world country student in my Social Psychology class/population trends called: " Radical political changes can only come by the barrel of the gun"! There were much opposition to that paper by students in that class from all over the world. . .now that I see how the political class operate in the Bahamas. . .PLP, FNM, DNA, and all them other parties. . .all from the same merchant class are all jockeying for political power for whatever reason. . .and they seem all related through family, friend or lover. . .or elite class! This iron ball around our national necks will remain until that revolutionary young person comes along and clear the deck for future citizens to take hold and succeed in a nation that continues to lock them out from their economy!
