THE Baptist Sports Council recently held its annual Family Fun Run/Walk Race.
The event, which was sponsored by BTC, turned out to be a success with Mt Ararat Baptist Church repeating as the overall champions.
Once again, they had the most participants who completed the course.
Their pastor, Rev Dr Gloria Ferguson, was one of the patrons. While she didn’t compete, she was on hand to give the blessing to the event at the start of the competition.
Another patron, Helen Ferguson, who has been a big time supporter of the BTC, participated. She was the winner of the women’s 60-and-over walk division.
David Prabhu was the winner of the men’s walk race in 42 minutes and 45 seconds. Winning the overall female walk was Sherry Whylly in 35:52.
Nicolas Thorp carted off the men’s trophy as the winner of the men’s run. He completed the 4.2 mile course in 30.07. Arlesha Clarke captured the female run in 33:40.
The BSC extends its gratitude to the Bahamas Association of Certified Officials (BACO), who once again officiated the event, while expressing its condolences to the late Roosevelt ‘Starter’ Thompson, who is normally a part of their team, headed by president Ray Hepburn and former president Ralf McKinney.
Once again, Bahamas Healthy Lifestyle was on hand to conduct medical screening and fitness guru Stephen Robinson provided some physical fitness tips.
Ann Thompson assisted in the athletes’ registration.
