Financial services meets Minister on language plan

Representatives from the Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) and the Association of International Banks and Trust Companies (AIBT) paid a courtesy call on Jeffrey Lloyd, minister of education, last Thursday.

They discussed the Towards a Bilingual Bahamas (TABB) programme, which is currently in its second year of operation within government junior and senior schools throughout the Bahamas. The financial services sector confirmed its commitment to the programme, and thanked the Ministry for its continued role in the process.

Towards a Bilingual Bahamas (TABB) is a programme created by BFSB in partnership with Rosetta Stone, co-hosted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Financial Services, and co-sponsored by the private sector.

TABB is designed to provide Bahamian high school students with the opportunity to acquire proficiency in French or Spanish. The intention is to make Bahamian students more competitive in the international job market.
