Christie 'regrets' offensive hand gesture

PRIME Minister Perry Christie has expressed "regret" for sticking up his middle finger at a Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) event earlier this week, saying in hindsight he would not have made the offensive gesture.

The Prime Minister, 73, seemed remorseful in the House of Assembly on Wednesday morning as he addressed parliamentary colleagues and the nation, explaining that he recognised his wrongdoing.

He added that his actions emboldened young people who he did not want to think that the hand gesture "is me".

Mr Christie said it was his hope that all who attended the event and witnessed his conduct now know that it was something "I wish I didn't do".

Mr Christie was subject of much ridicule and criticism on Tuesday after he 'flipped the bird' during a PLP event on Monday night during an explanation of his response to allegations that he owned condominiums appropriated from his position of power.

Comrades! MP's from across both sides Honourable House of Assembly were today deeply moved and some tears were shed as the PM openly and calmly put aside the politician in him to take the statesman's role as he stood to clarify his hand gesture against manufactured accusations that attempted challenging his character as PM. A class act from a humble people's representative , so rarely on display in years in politics, or visible on the floor the People's House.

Christie's middle finger gesture is the least of his many crimes these last five years. No "Academy Award" performance in the HOA will prevent him from being judged by the Bahamian people in a few months' time. He will be judged and found guilty and the next tears will be his.

Sorry...it's inexcusable, and just a prime example of the way he, and his colleagues deal with things...disagree with them or call them out and it's a big F+++ Y++...tell them no in a referendum and they say F+++ Y++ we are going to do it anyways. That's the way they roll. Just embarrassing now that around the world, in the press, we have the Prime Minister of the Bahamas standing there with his finger in the air. Disgraceful. Time and time again, the man has proven lack of leadership and should stand down...this gesture just cements that fact. But, as the PLP go, they won't resign over anything, no matter how much ill repute it brings upon the country.

Comrades! Please, spare the PM from such hypocrisy. Can you think of another gesture that is more used to express how we Bahamalander's - does feel about someone, or something?
To listen to the talk show hosts, you'd think the 2017 General Election's results, are about to be decided on "da PM's finger?

- Comrades! If President George W Bush who while governor of Texas, can gives the one finger salute - why not our little island nation's PM Christie? -

Every one knows it is out of the PM's character to be lewd, nasty or profane in public. That's why his recent act of flipping the bird (sticking up the middle finger). Caught so many by surprise and drew so much attention. Many wondered if the pm was in the right frame of mind or if he was losing his mind and in need of medication. Some say 'whom the gods destroy they first set crazy", while others say it was an act of desperation. Rodney Moncur did not make things any better for the pm by taking to the airwaves and trying to justify the PM's action and even repeating the PM's gestures live on Facebook. He made a natural ass of himself. And came across like a political prostitute. Some call it eating cheese for his dinner. But the fact is it ain't over until the fat lady sings.

The same persons going around trying to defend Christie, are the same ones who are always criticizing Trump for his foolish actions. Christie is "only human" but if that were Hubert Minnis or Branville McCartney or even LBT, Bradley Roberts, Gray and Fitzgerald, would be all over them and would not be as forgiving as they want the people to be about Christie.

Speaking about legacy: Notice how Trump, if only because of his election promise, is trying to repeal Obamacare. But despite the criticism and efforts they cannot come up with a better and less expensive replacement. So they most likely will alter small sections of the bill and rename it just to deny Obama his place in history. So 😭 sad

Franklyn says...

...was the ranting by Perry Christie an insight into a racist self-image of himself ...or are we seeing a sociopath with no sense of responsibility for the failures of his leadership. As leader of the Governing Progressive Liberal Party and Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Perry Christie has over seen the complete destruction of our countries finances, multiple downgrades to our credit rating, record unemployment, record murders, financial mismanagement of $800 million in Value-Added Tax (VAT), record revenue decline and a neglected tourist market that has seen the cancelation of major contributors to the tourist sector and no plan to combat the threat from the opening of the Cuban tourist market.
In the eyes of Mr. Christie this is all normal.

Comrades! Political silly season negativity singling out the PM heading into the 2017 General Election will not change even by 10% that the Red Movement Party's deepening troubles among their own core UBP base has been reduced to its lowest support level since Papa Hubert was UBP hand-picked to lead the Red Movement.
Check the polling data released just yesterday by both major political parties and when you mash both reports together, they support my own 2017 House seat projections published days ago.
Simply put. How the UBP votes go on 2017 Day - so goes the Red Movement's crack at governing.
