PRIME Minister Perry Christie’s wife, Bernadette, and daughter Alexandria, were campaigning several streets away from an incident where a man was shot as he was walking through Mason’s Addition on Saturday night, according to Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean yesterday.
Senior ACP Dean told The Tribune that the prime minister’s family members were not in any danger because they were not in the immediate vicinity where the incident occurred.
However there was some confusion yesterday over this situation as a well-placed source within the Progressive Liberal Party told The Tribune that the incident happened “right across from” where the prime minister’s wife and daughter had been campaigning.
They were immediately taken to safety, the source added.
Mr Christie, who is the area’s incumbent, was not in the area either, Senior ACP Dean said.
According to police, shortly after 8pm, a man was walking in the Mason’s Addition area, when another man armed with a handgun approached him and shot him before fleeing on foot.
Police said the victim was taken to hospital where he is detained with non-life threatening injuries.
Moments later, authorities said another shooting occurred involving a man who was standing in front of a home at Taylor Street, Nassau Village.
Reports are that a man armed with a handgun approached the victim and shot him before fleeing on foot. The victim was taken to hospital where he is also detained with non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone with information on these incidents or any other crime is asked to contact police at 919 or Crime Stoppers at 328-8477 in New Providence or 1-242-300-8476 in the Family Islands.

**Who cares, because I certainly don't.** The PM has failed to do anything about crime in 5yrs. Every time there is a murder in those communities there are Bahamians who live several streets away from that crime. The life of his wife and daughters is no more valuable than the lives of the rest of us. We pay for their security while Christe has failed to protect us! They ought to be ashamed to go in Farm Road asking those poor people to support a man who clearly FAILED them. Lights off, no running water and outside toilet but y'all begging those poor people for votes! Y'all have no shame!!

doesn't matter in the slightest.
Failed policies and failures in governance has led to this. Crime isa symptom of a complex cocktail of issues.

Ever wonder why after so much corruption and dishonesty has been exposed in the PLP and while crime, murders especially, continuese unabated, the PLP still seems to get a good level of support ? Well there are certain factions of PLP supporters who believe it is ok for their government to be corrupt and dishonest as long as "they take care of their supporters and 'see them straight '. Many don't see the bigger picture and they sincerely believe the PLP government is only supposed to take care of and look out for PLP's. And they rationalize this thinking with, "ain't y'all is do the same thing when y'all get in?" These people also believe that all governments are corrupt and that's how they are able to take care of their people. As for the high level of murders, some don't believe that's a government problem. They buy the story fed to them by their (present) government that it is just a small number of stupid young men and boys killing up each other. " That ain't gat nothing to do with government. If that's what they want to do let them kill one another until ain't none left." So now you can see why the prime minister and other can represent areas for decades that are deprived, lacking basic essentials and infrastructure. Many are comfortable in that mode of living.

But they ain't getting nothing. The vast majority of the plp base lives in poverty. If you are not at the top of the plp food chain you aint getting anything

$100 is A LOT for many Bahamians. Many gals are spreading their legs on the hoods of cars in parking lots for $10 or 'a couple drinks'.
Tings real bad for many so for them a little cash is a lot. Just how the PLP wants it to remain. Modern day slavery... of almost an entire nation.

Given the size of NP, we all are only several streets away from the site of shootings. That is if we're lucky.

Persons "round" there say that they were all in the area of the park. . .the Christies on one side and the "bruk-dawn" on the other side. . .but the same park!! Aw well. . .that's the kind of environment he gave them to accommodate him in for the last 40 years! Maybe he will now see and feel what each mother in that area has to accommodate her sons and daughters in on a daily basis. . .EEN LONG NAH!
