THE obstacle course race trend continues to increase in popularity throughout the country and now one of the international leaders in the field looks to host another edition of its event this fall in the Bahamas.
Local company RETRO Management Services has partnered with The Spartan Race to bring a weekend of events to the Bahamas at the Thomas A Robinson National Stadium November 17-19.
Spartan Race participants can traditionally expect to run, climb, push, pull, throw, and crawl through walls, trees, mud, barbed wire, and other challenging obstacles throughout the course.
The company previously hosted Spartan Cruise Bahamas in 2015 with a course created at Great Stirrup Cay in the Berry Islands.
Events over the course of the weekend include a kid's race, hybrid sprint race and short track race.
The organisation recently hosted the Miami Spartan Race Sprint Weekend in Miami, Florida, April 29-30.
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism had a presence at the event with a booth to attract participants to Spartan Race Bahamas.
According to its website: "The Spartan Race was born in the green mountains of Vermont by Joe De Sena, world-class adventure racer. Gritty. Resilient. Passionate. Spartans aren't soft. They overcome obstacles. And yes, Spartans burpee. Spartan Race is a sport, community, a philosophy, a training and nutrition programme - with daily advice, a podcast, a series of books, an activity for kids, workout gear, a media channel, an NBC Sports series, a digital magazine, and a timed obstacle race."
