A trade union leader says he is prepared to give new Labour Minister, Dion Foulkes, a chance to resolve some of the five or six outstanding industrial agreement negotiations.

Obie Ferguson, the Trade Union Congress's (TUC) president, told Tribune Business there were several outstanding industrial agreements the umbrella union was hoping to see resolved.

"The first one is the Customs and Immigration industrial agreement, the second one is Water and Sewerage industrial agreement, the third one is the Sandals matter, the fourth is the Kentucky Fried Chicken industrial agreement and you have the Air Traffic Controllers overtime issue," Mr Ferguson said. "

Those are some of the major outstanding issues, about five or six, that we hope to meet with the Minister on and try to get resolved."

Mr Ferguson added: "I think that the foundation is there to have those issues resolved. He has been very receptive to the issues that we put forward. We want to give the Minister some time to get these issues resolved.

"Some of the issues are complicated, and then some are not so complicated, but we want to work with him and give him a chance to help resolve some of these issues, some of which have been outstanding for quite some time now."
