THREE men are in police custody in connection with the discovery of $3m worth of marijuana in Eleuthera on Thursday.

The incident, which took place around 2.30pm in Governor's Harbour, is one of the biggest drug busts of the year, according to officer-in-charge of the Drug Enforcement Unit Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Samuel Butler.

Police said a team of officers from the Eleuthera Division along with the Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by US Drug Enforcement Agencies went to an area in Governor's Harbour, where they discovered 77 bales of marijuana in an unoccupied residence.

The three men were taken into custody a short time later and are assisting police with their investigations.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $3m.

The discovering came three months after police arrested three men in connection with the discovery of $3.2m worth of marijuana in Andros on Emancipation Day.

Doubtful anyone will be charged........Governor's Harbour is Baltron Bethel's turf and the police would probably learn more about this $3 million drug bust by speaking to him. There's very little that goes on in Governor's Harbour that Baltron does not know about.

Eleuthera seems to have an attraction for drug dealers ...... like Andros ..... Now every island has been darkened by that SLOP drug curse, but it persists in some island pockets ...... I wonder why???????

As for other types of crime targeted by law enforcement for far more suspicious reasons:

>" FOUR men were arraigned in the Magistrate's Court Friday on an unlawful possession of a firearm charge.

>The men include Philmore Davis, son of Opposition Leader Philip “Brave” Davis, Don Davis, Matthew Davis and Laven Gibson.

>The men are accused of unlawfully possessing a .380 pistol.

>Supreme Court Justice Stephen Isaacs granted the men bail later Friday afternoon."

The above article appeared in the November 10, 2017 edition of The Tribune and wreaks to high heaven of political victimization of the worst kind aimed at Brave Davis. Minnis and Marvin Dames have no doubt done much ground work in developing their list of targets for political gain and leverage of any kind they can get. Rather than being the large lion of an opposition leader he has become, Brave will now have to behave much more like a small pussy cat in parliament and in public. Not at all good for the people to have a shoot-from-the-hip sheriff with no real opposition in the HOA. Almost makes one wonder if Marvin Dames does not know much more about where many of the guns illegally imported into our country have ended up or will end up.

@Well_mudda. If you are implying that the Prime Minister and Minister of National Security is behind the arrest of Brave Davis' son, for political reasons, you simply have a deranged mind. You are seriously one sick puppy and need urgent help. To spew forth such spurious venom is not only insulting to the police officers who put their lives on the line each and every day, but shows the level of disrespect you have for our country's democracy and institutional system. You are truly devoid of any substance. How sad!

Brave's son won't spend any hard time in prison and it will be most interesting for the public to learn how he and three others came to be in possession of a hand gun. But this matter certainly will leave Brave politically neutered for several years. Let's not forget that Henry Bostwick's son (John H. Bostwick II) still has no idea how the ammunition (bullets) found by Freeport's airport security got into his carry-on travel bag. He of course ended up being acquitted of the charges that were pressed against him.

Well at least it seems they may have now found at least one of the imported RBDF weapons that were not properly accounted for as a result of an unusual chain of custody and paper work irregularities according to the Auditor General.

The police like to make themselves look more important by giving the so called street value of the drugs that they intercept and seize. This is behaviour learnt from Drug cops in other countries and shows a lack of integrity in my mind. Dealers at the street level mostly buy a pound or 16 ounces at a time and sell it by the ounce or by the gram. no one carries around 3 million dollars, the true value if you are buying this quantity would be 40 to 80 thousand dollars. But that doesn't sound so impressive does it?
