Police probe death threats to ministers

POLICE have been asked to investigate threats included in several expletive-filled voice notes circulated yesterday that someone would “kill” Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis, Deputy Prime Minister K Peter Turnquest and others in the Free National Movement .

The voice notes were recorded by a man who said he was a “hardcore” FNM supporter who was struggling financially and sometimes went to bed hungry.

Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Anthony Newbold said last night he did not know who recorded the messages, but he had forwarded them to Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson for investigation.

“I hurting on this corner man,” the self-proclaimed FNM supporter said in one voice note. “I [expletive] hurting. And I is a big time FNM. . . some night I go to bed hungry . . . gas killing [expletive] me.

“The struggle real. These FNMs and Minnis and [expletive] Peter Turnquest [expletive] right around, if they keep this [expletive] up, someone ga kill them bey. I don’t care who is record these Whatsapp. . .”

The man also claimed he worked on the election campaign of Mount Moriah MP Marvin Dames and helped him get elected, but now he could not even get $20 or a job from the government.

"Someone ga kill them bey" I don't think is a death threat, because who is someone, someone can be anyone and represents everyone, unless the statement reads or a person says " I will kill them them bey" then what threats were made and by who, No case. RBPF go and find some real criminals and stop some of the armed robberies during this yuletide season. The struggle is real, alot more persons are hurting and going to bed on empty stomachs, and that is a threat on life.

ABSOLUTELY NO ONE should be making threats of physical harm to any public official regardless of how you feel. Chances are that you will sooner feel that nourishing trickle down effect if you join the long food line at the good ol Salvation Army no matter which side you on.

What sickens me with our politicians is that they have happily passed legislation making it a criminal offense for a business owner to purchase or wear any sort of bullet proof vest while these same cabinet ministers do just that and in case of Bernard Nottage (dec'd) carry a side arm as well. Chuck Virgil is the only politician murdered in the past two hundred years while dozens of business owners have been held up and shot. Hypocrites.

i have advocated that we law-abiding citizens have the right to carry concealed weapons to give us a chance when we come under attack by those opposed to law and order... this article further convinces me that is the right thing to do.. now, if we are to have a referendum, this should certainly be a question put to the people...
