Davis announces candidacy for PLP leadership at upcoming convention

PLP leader Philip 'Brave' Davis officially announced his candidacy for the party's leadership at its upcoming convention during a prayer breakfast on Saturday morning.

Speaking to those in attendance at the Baha Mar Convention Centre, Mr Davis said: “I have come this morning to seek your prayers as we journey together in service of our country. I ask your support as I once again choose the path leading me to be your servant so that I can help guide our nation away from the troubles that have come our way.

“Our party needs your prayerful support, and our nation needs the God of our fathers now more than ever before.”

He added that the party and its supporters must get ready for the journey ahead: “In the coming days, weeks and months, let us begin to ready ourselves for the journey ahead and get ready to rebuild and renew our great organisation with compassion, common purpose and a renewed zeal to fight for the betterment of our brothers and sisters.

“We in the PLP are the inheritors of a rich past, a progressive present and a glorious future.”

Mr Davis also said the nation must take a path built on the foundations of Christian principles: “Our dedication to better the lives of our people has always been the cornerstone of our vision, which is built on the foundations of firm Christian principles. And this is a path we as a nation must take in order to steer the next generation away from the carnage we see on our streets.

“I want to announce that I now offer myself to you for election as leader of the great Progressive Liberal Party at our National Convention.”

The PLP convention will take place on October 22-24 at the Melia in Cable Beach.

Former Tourism Minister Obie Wilchcombe will also be running for a senior position at the convention after he announced his candidacy for party chairman in August.

In a video circulating on social media, Mr Wilchcombe can be seen speaking last week at Breezes in Cable Beach to a small group of supporters.

Really????? These PLP relics just don't get it! Or they don't have an ounce of shame or dignity. This jackass wants to be leader and eventually prime minister. But whenever he is questioned about all of the mismanagement of all of the portfolios he was responsible for, he CANNOT recall anything. Still living in the 80's are we Brave? But now that I am thinking about it, Brave doesn't wanna lose his diplomatic passport, cause he know the men black waiting on his corrupt a$$!

Just like the National Hurricane Service's policy of retiring names for hurricanes that have done immense damage and caused many deaths, so too should The Bahamas retire the name Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) from it's roster.
The PLP has caused more deaths and destruction to this small nation than any hurricane in history.
We must rid ourselves of any and all who were and are associated with this national tragedy.
Those who persist in using the term PLP, and all it stands for should be exposed for who they are.
Insensitive low lives who could not care less about The Bahamas, but rather are in it for the money, for access to the contract kickbacks, for the ego boosting media coverage, and for some kind of supposed legacy.
Worked out well for all the others, hey?
And, where is this nation today?
On the brink of financial and social collapse.
Time for NEW leadership.
Out with the old, including Brave, the worst of the bunch.

ALL righteous points! Quite a list! Perhaps it should be mailed to the FNM hierarchy in case they are too busy to read this publication.

One more effort to elevate the proven criminals over the merely human imperfect. When will you apologists grow tired of your attempts to put lipstick on the PLP pig?

Appointing Carl Bethel to AG is a huge mistake in my mind. This one decision put a really bad taste in my mouth.

The truth is if the election were called today. many of those FNM's would not be sitting
in the house. and many of them will not be re elected after this term they gone. The spin doctors*the propagandas.

They will do well to put indoor toilets where they said they would put them in the inner
cities.

Any good news? As you know Perry Christie still holds power over many PLP delegates. And since he always blocked Brave Davis becoming leader, this will be an interesting fight. Especially since many of the younger PLPs feels the party should get rid of all those in the Christie/Davis era and start afresh.

But when the PLP has 2000 voting delegates (all over 60 years old) ...... how can any young PLP succeed????

"REBUILD AND RENEW". Add the work greed and corruption. The old PLP is corrupt to the core and these old men need to get out especially when he still thinks there needs to be no bidding for contracts and contracts should be awarded to party faithful only.
