A 20-YEAR-OLD man, charged with the murder of a mother of three and the attempted murder of two other men as they stood on a porch in the area of Peardale Road last week, was charged in a Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Godfrey McKinney, of Johnson Alley, stood before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt facing one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the shooting death of 38-year-old Shenique Hart on October 9, and the attempted murder of both Andrew Nerenal and Absolom Sturrup the same day.

According to reports, Ms Hart was standing in front of an unoccupied building on Peardale Road off Wulff Road with two men shortly after 8:30pm when the occupants of a white "Japanese" vehicle pulled up and shot at them.

Ms Hart was pronounced dead at the scene while the two men were rushed to hospital where they remain in serious condition.

Police later said a 20-year-old man was in custody assisting police with their investigation.

McKinney was not required to enter a plea to the charges and the matter was adjourned to November 17 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment. He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until that time.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy was charged before Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans in connection with the murder of a man in the Peardale Road area earlier this year. It is alleged the teenager murdered Wensky Joseph on February 10.

According to initial police reports, shortly before 9pm on the day in question, a man was walking with two other men on a park in Peardale when another man, armed with a handgun, approached and shot him before fleeing on foot.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenager was not required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to November 30 for service of a VBI before the juvenile panel.
