A man is dead following a shooting incident on Acklins Street yesterday morning. This marks the third murder in three days in the capital.
According to police, the incident occurred shortly before 11am. The victim was standing in front of a building on Acklins Street “when a silver vehicle pulled up.”
A man armed with a firearm got out of the vehicle and shot the victim. The gunman then got back into the vehicle and sped off.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died of his wounds. This is the country’s 27th homicide for the year, according to The Tribune’s records.
It comes a day after two murders earlier this week that occurred less than 12 hours apart.
Shortly after 5am Tuesday, police received notice of a shooting off Moore Avenue, which left a man dead.
Hours earlier, around 8pm Monday, police said a man died in hospital after he was shot at nearby Homestead Street.
Police are investigating whether the two earlier murders were connected.
Anyone with information on these or any other crimes are asked to call police at 919 or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS.

We need more Police officers on the streets of N.P.
They need to patrol on foot,on vehicles, waring uniforms, plain clothes. We need their presence on the streets, visible and invisible but in great numbers with new, effective approach to crime, always with dignity & respect, immediately.
The government must reconcile their commitment regarding the quick U-turn they took in facing corruption or misuse of the public funds as a way to decrease crimes. They must tackle the cause agressibly simultaneously with the symptoms. This is too long stationary wrong doing.
We need people who want to be on the right side of history ,with courage and determination to stop the wrongdoing and exercise moral values in order to give expression to a more descent Bahamian society, crime free!.

To tackle crime implies to changing the way we live, forming integral law enforcement officers and not allowing them to own liquior stores but to oversee or supervise those liquior stores regarding open schedule and client's unlawful behavior.
We need an independent organization also to oversee law enforcement officers by only taking notes everywhere crime scenarios take place in order to systematically improve their procedures and performance.

The Crime in Nassau or New Provindence is out of control.Tourists will not come and the Cruise ships will not dock in the City unless the Crime is brought under control.I lived in Massau and it is the most beautiful City around and the Out Islands are just better than Hawaii. We have to get the Crime under control.Like I said before, anyone caught killing someone else should go before the Court and if guilty, should be hanged at Fox Hill Prison.
