NPWBA: Operators get 45-44 win over Cheetahs

THE Bommer G Lady Operators wrapped up the New Providence Women's Basketball Association with the best win-loss record as they nipped the Lady Cheetahs 45-44 in the match-up of the two teams at the DW Davis Gymnasium on Saturday night.

On the final night of the regular season, the Lady Operators improved to 9-3 as Britenique Harrison and Ruthann Simms both scored 18 points. Shantelle Rolle had 10 in the loss for the Lady Cheetahs, who dropped to 7-5 in second place.

Also Saturday night in the showdown of the two final teams, the Lady Connectors blasted the Foxxy Lady Angels 68-53 as Latavia Brown scored 15 points.

The Lady Connectors pushed their third place record to 4-8. Mavia Dean had 12 in the loss for the Lady Angels, who remained at the bottom of the pile at 3-9.

League president Mynez Sherman has announced that they will take a break for the Bahamas Basketball Federation men's national championships that will be played this weekend in Grand Bahama.

The playoffs are set to begin on May 1 and open with the pennant winning Lady Operators facing the fourth place Lady Angels.

And the second place Lady Cheetahs are slated to face off with the third place Lady Connectors in the best-of-three series. The two winners will go on to clash in the final to determine this year's champions.
